Police have charged a 16-year-old boy - who cannot be named because of his age - with killing Conor, a joinery student who lived on the Lightbowne estate. A youth, who cannot be named, appeared before Manchester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with killing Conor, who lived on the Lightbowne estate.
The teenager is due before Manchester city magistrates on Tuesday. He was remanded in custody and is due to re-appear on 16 September.
He will appear via videolink and a formal plea will be entered before he will be committed to Manchester Crown Court.
The magistrates were told that Conor, a joinery student, was allegedly struck on the head with a can before the stabbing.
The youth's solicitor, Mr Simon Harrison, said his client "denies the extremely grave crime".
