Sixteen-year-old Conor James Black was wounded once in the shoulder in Moston Lane, Harpurhey, in the early hours. Connor Black, a 16-year-old joinery student, suffered a one inch stab wound to his upper left shoulder in Moston Lane, Harpurhey, in the early hours.
The joinery student from Harpurhey was described by a friend as "loveable" and "respectful", was treated at the scene but died on the way to hospital. The youth, who lived in Harpurhey and was known to police, was found on grass just a few feet from the main road. He died on the way to hospital.
North West Ambulance Services have denied a report from an eyewitness who said there had been a 30-minute delay in getting an ambulance to the scene. Police have found two knives and are testing them for finger prints and DNA to see if they were used in the attack.

An ambulance was then despatched and arrived at the scene at 0217 BST.

Friends have been placing floral tributes close to where Conor died

Forensic experts are carrying out a search of the area and officers are conducting house-to-house inquiries. Police have appealed for anyone with information about the attack to get in touch.
Det Supt Shaun Donnellan of Greater Manchester Police said: "We are at the early stages of this inquiry, but we believe there may have been witnesses who could assist our investigation into finding out what happened." They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who saw a hooded figure seen running from the scene.
