| Theresa May said at prime minister’s questions this week that she thinks it is important that we mark the centenary of the election of the first female MP next year. Since the woman in question was Constance Markievicz, a member of Sinn Féin who had been imprisoned and sentenced to death for her part in the fighting in Dublin in 1916, I look forward Mrs May’s taking part in this commemoration with great interest.
