Thousands of people have attended a concert in memory of a schoolboy shot dead in Merseyside almost a year ago. | |

Merseyside stars including Mel C, Jimmy Tarbuck, Barbara Dickson and Natasha Hamilton played to more than 8,500 people at the Liverpool Echo Arena. | |
The proceeds from Friday's concert will go to the Liverpool Unites campaign for the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund. | |
The money will help build a community centre in honour of Rhys in Croxteth, the area where he grew up. | |

Speaking after the concert, former Spice Girl Mel C said: "The atmosphere was electric from beginning to end. | |
"I am so pleased that I could be part of the Liverpool Unites concert and it is something else for Liverpool to be proud of." | |
Comedian Jimmy Tarbuck added: "It was an honour to be in such exalted company - very sad but still an honour." | |
