The spokesman said: "Passengers are once again checking in at Terminal 3 following an earlier temporary suspension due to an IT network issue. Passengers prevented from entering Terminal 3 on Thursday evening were given water and seating outside the terminal, which serves mainly long haul flights.
"We apologise for any inconvenience and are working hard to check in passengers as quickly as possible. A BAA spokesman said: "Passengers are being checked in, however the process is slower than normal, which means that some flights are delayed and some will be cancelled."
"At the present time there are no cancellations, however some flights departing from Terminal 3 may be delayed." He said BAA was "working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible".
Passengers were advised to contact their airline before travelling to the airport.
