Only 15% of the 2,006 people who were quizzed online think the Games will be good for the United Kingdom's international reputation. | |
A further 45% think other areas of the UK, with as much or even greater regeneration needs, are just as capable of hosting the Olympics as the capital. | |
The British government says the Games will leave a lasting legacy for the UK. | |
The survey, by market research agency Opinium Research, showed the long-term benefits of staging the Games was an issue for 39% of those who took part, while 10% were convinced Britain could become a world-leading sporting nation by hosting the Games. | |
