A 53-year-old man is in a critical condition after receiving 60% burns in a house fire in Flint. A 53-year-old man is in a critical condition after receiving 60% burns in a house fire in Flintshire.
He was taken to Glan Clwyd hospital at Bodelwyddan and is expected to be transferred to Whiston Hospital in Liverpool on Tuesday evening. It is understood that the damage to the house in Flint was one of the most severe fire-fighters had seen.
A neighbour alerted emergency services at 1327 BST and the house in Brushwood Avenue was extensively damaged. The injured man was transferred to a burns unit in Liverpool after the blaze, which started just before 1330 BST on Tuesday.
North Wales Fire and Rescue service is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire. Fire-fighters had found him lying with severe burns in the front lawn of the house in Brushwood Avenue.
A spokeswoman for North Wales Fire and Rescue service said two crews from Deeside found the man suffering from severe burns, lying on the front lawn. He was taken to Glan Clwyd hospital at Bodelwyddan.
Firefighters used a water jet, a hose reel and four sets of breathing apparatus to tackle the fire which affected both the ground and first floors of the property. A neighbour, an off-duty police officer, had alerted emergency services.
Crews in breathing apparatus entered the next door property and rescued the neighbours' pet dog. North Wales Fire and Rescue service is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire, which severely damaged both floors of the house and also led to smoke damage to a neighbouring property.

The blaze caused severe fire damage to the property and smoke damage to next door and the cause is under investigation.
