Boy shot in the eye with airgun

A nine-year-old boy has been shot in the eye with an airgun in Glasgow.

Police said he was hit outside a Jobcentre in Reid Street, Bridgeton, at about 1300 BST on Monday.

The boy was taken to the city's Yorkhill Hospital where he received treatment for bruising to his eye. He was released a short time later.

It is thought that other youngsters were involved in the shooting. Police said the incident could have been more serious and are continuing inquiries.
