Firebombs left in north of city
(about 1 hour later) | |
Three firebombs have been discovered in north Belfast.
They were made safe by the army after a security alert in the city at about 0330 BST on Tuesday.
Police said the incendiary devices were viable and had been left at addresses in Halliday's Road, New Lodge Road and North Queen Street.
The area was cordoned off while army experts made the devices safe. They have now been removed for further examination.
The alarm was raised after police received a telephone warning.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Alan Little said those responsible showed "a callous disregard for human life".
"Fortunately none of these devices detonated. We could have been dealing with carnage and destruction," he said. |
