A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man shot while working in a shop in the latest violent attack in an area of Birmingham.

Mohammed Busharat, 24, was pronounced dead in hospital after a shot was fired by a gunman in Villa Road, Lozells, on Wednesday evening.

It is thought the victim is the younger brother of Mohammed Sabir who was shot dead on Lozells Road in 2003.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Wednesday's shooting.

Police cordoned off the scene after being called at about 2040 GMT.

The incident follows the death of Meshack Tesfa Bernard-Brown, who was shot dead on 13 November in nearby Newtown.

There have also been a number of other violent incidents in the Newtown and Lozells area in recent weeks.
