TV presenter Gail Porter says her hair is starting to grow back, three years after she developed alopecia.

"I have brows and lashes again, after so long," she told the Sunday Mirror. "Isn't it fantastic?"

"I've just been on holiday and I feel wonderful," she added. "I was so relaxed they started to grow back."

The 37-year-old lost almost all of her blonde, glossy hair overnight in 2005, but has continued her TV career whilst refusing to wear wigs or hairpieces.

"I won't wear a wig because I don't want to," she said.

"I tried a few, but in the end I'd rather have my own hair or none at all."

The star began her career on children's shows like the BBC's Fully BookedAlopecia is an immune system disorder which affects about 1 in 100 people.

Its causes can include stress, genetics, hormonal changes, age, skin problems and diet.

Porter developed the condition in the wake of a messy divorce from musician Dan Hipgrave, which also led to an overdose.

She has since been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which is characterised by periods of depression and mania.
