The right-wing AfD party has garnered around 13 percent of the votes, according to exit polls, and is set to enter the German parliament for first time in its history. Angela Merkel’s CDU is leading the polls with over 30 percent, yet has significantly bled support. With 33 percent of the votes, Angela Merkel’s CDU/CSU alliance won a plurality in the German parliamentary elections. However, results showed record-low support for Germany’s major parties, while the anti-immigrant AfD placed third and got its first MPs.
