Administrators in charge of the coffee chain Beanscene have set a closing date of 15 August for offers to acquire the troubled business.

The firm, which has its headquarters in Glasgow, went into administration two weeks ago.

Joint administrators, Blair Nimmo and Tony Friar of KPMG, said there had been "significant interest" from large operators and private individuals.

Beanscene employs 142 staff in 14 shops across Scotland.

Blair Nimmo said: "The Beanscene brand is very strong and this has been reflected in the support provided to date by employees, landlords, suppliers and customers.

"The number of inquiries we have received about the business now stands at almost 150.

"However, we would urge all parties interested in acquiring the business to contact us."

Beanscene was transferred to new owners in April, but they were unable to fund planned investments and called in the administrators.

The firm runs six branches in Glasgow, four in Edinburgh and one each in Stirling, St Andrews, Hawick and Ayr.
