Police investigating the attempted murder of a woman in central Glasgow have been speaking to pedestrians and motorists.

It is one week to the day since the 29-year-old, who is believed to be a prostitute, was found in West Campbell Street at 0620 BST.

She is still undergoing treatment for serious head injuries at the Southern General Hospital.

Her condition has stabilised but she is still too sedated to speak to police.

Detectives and uniformed officers stopped about 20 motorists and pedestrians in the area of West George Street and West Campbell Street between 0130 and 0500 BST.

Det Insp Billy Little, the officer in charge of the investigation, said the operation was aimed at jogging the memory of anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the attack.

"Officers are continuing to look through hours of CCTV footage which covers the local area in an effort to gain further information on the attack," he said.

"The enquiry team has been speaking to colleagues, friends and associates of the woman to try and ascertain her last movements and who she was with.

"I would urge anyone who may have been in the area of West George Street and West Campbell Street and witnessed the woman, who is described as white, of slim build, with light brown hair and wearing black trousers and a black patterned top, to come forward as a matter of urgency."
