Armed robber poses as policeman

An armed robber, dressed as a policeman, has stolen money from a bank in Ballymena, County Antrim.

The man, armed with a handgun, went into the Northern bank on the Larne Road at about 1300 BST on Tuesday.

The police say he was "dressed to give the appearance of being a police officer", with a cap and high visibility jacket.

He took an undisclosed sum of cash from staff and left in a silver car towards the Larne Road roundabout.

They have asked anyone who was in the area at the time or who noticed the car as it drove off to contact them.
