His body has been removed from the scene. He was in County Kerry for the funeral of a nephew who who died in a motorcycle accident.
Mr Crickard's niece Christine Mhic Giolla Mhin said the last time a family member saw him he was looking at chapel times. The last time a family member saw Mr Crickard he was looking at chapel times.
"My brother, my son, cousin and nephew were with him. They'd gone for coffee and he was meant to join them 10 minutes later and didn't," said Ms Mhic Giolla Mhin. Mr Crickard had planned to stay and spend some time in Kerry with relatives, but an air and sea search was launched after he disappeared.
Mr Crickard was in County Kerry for the funeral of his grandnephew. Relatives said he was a fit and healthy man who regularly went on walks.
Mr Crickard was an uncle of Sinn Fein Upper Falls Councillor Chrissie Mac Ghiolla Mhin.
Party president Gerry Adams has offered his condolences to the family.
