Friends of a man killed in a homophobic attack are planning to hold a march and a three-minute silence in his memory.

Michael Causer, 18, from Whiston, Merseyside, was attacked in Tarbock Road, Huyton, on 25 July.

He was treated for serious head injuries at the Walton Critical Care unit but died on Saturday.

Matthew Fox, from the Liverpool Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Network, said a decision on how to mark his death will be made on Wednesday.

Two charged

Mr Fox said: "People are angry and upset. Obviously we want to talk about this case because we want people to know that it has happened."

He urged people to join a group set up in his memory on the social networking site Facebook.

The group already has more than 2,000 members, many of which have left messages of support for Michael's family.

Two Huyton men, aged 19 and 18, have been charged with grievous bodily harm. A 19-year-old man from Huyton has been charged with witness intimidation.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said the incident was being treated as a "homophobic hate crime".
