Police in Lebanon, New Hampshire are investigating reports of an active shooter at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, the state’s largest hospital. The Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire has confirmed an active shooter on site, saying he is “contained,” local media reported.
A spokesman for the hospital, Mike Barwell, only said they have reported “an incident” to police and that officers are responding, according to AP. The shooter at the Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire has been “contained,” according to the editor of Union Leader, Trent Spiner‏ who cited the hospital.
"Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon is currently locked down following reports of an active shooter in the hospital," he said in a statement. “Shooter described as male, 6'1'‘, with salt and pepper blonde hair wearing a red camo shirt. If you see, call 911,” Spiner tweeted.
Earlier, police in Lebanon, New Hampshire responded to reports of an active shooter at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, the state’s largest hospital.
"Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon is currently locked down following reports of an active shooter in the hospital," hospital spokesman Mike Barwell said in a statement.
“Lebanon and New Hampshire State police have been alerted and are on-site.”
Hospital officials instructed personnel to either seek safe shelter or evacuate the campus. New Hampshire and Lebanon police are still sweeping the building, the hospital said.
Schools in the area have been placed on lockdown too.Tim Ball, business administrator for Lebanon’s public schools, told the Union Leader the district placed all five of its schools, two within two miles of the hospital, on lockdown as a precaution.
