Arrest made over suspicious death

A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Ayrshire at the weekend.

Police said Francis McGowan, 43, was seriously injured at his home in Stewarton following a disturbance in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the house at about 0250 BST but Mr McGowan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 45-year-old man detained by police is expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday.
