Sinn Fein Newry and Armagh MP Conor Murphy said "once again a vulnerable pensioner has been subject to a terrifying ordeal".
"Words cannot describe the anger that I, and indeed the entire community, feel for those within our society who are intent on inflicting fear, injury and mayhem on our most vulnerable community members," he said.
