At least one person is missing after a coach fire on the hard shoulder of a motorway in Hampshire. All passengers on a coach that was at risk of exploding after catching fire on a motorway in Hampshire have been accounted for, police say.
The wreckage of the 56-seater vehicle is on the M3 near junction 14 at Chilworth. Witnesses said traffic was stretching back for 20 miles (32km). It was initially thought at least one person was missing in the fire on the M3 near junction 14 at Chilworth.
Station manager Steve Ramsley, of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "All I can say is that we've got one or more persons unaccounted for.
"I can't confirm at this time whether we have anyone believed deceased."
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
The coach was travelling southbound towards Portsmouth when the fire started at about 1500 BST, Mr Ramsley said.
