Version 0 of 1.

A search is under way for a 10-year-old boy who was swept away in a river.

The boy is believed to have been with other children when he disappeared in the River Severn, near Newnham in Gloucestershire.

Helicopters have been searching for the child since he went missing at 2000 BST on Sunday.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said it is believed the boy went missing while he was playing and it is not linked to any deliberate act.

He said: "A 10-year-old boy has been swept away in the river.

"We have agencies assisting with the search but so far we've had no joy in locating him.

"It is unclear what the boy was doing at the time but he was in the company of other youths.

"It appears to be some kind of tragedy."
