Three men are in hospital after being injured in a disturbance in Cardiff.

Police are investigating after the incident outside a flat in Ninian Road, in the Roath area of the city, at around 0040 BST on Sunday.

It is understood the men have stab wounds but that their injuries are not life threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Det Insp Paul Andrews said: "We don't think it's random. We believe probably the victims and suspect know each other."

Neighbours who live in the same property said they were woken up and asked to leave the house at 0100 BST for scenes of crimes officers to investigate.

"I hadn't heard anything so I was surprised to be woken up.," one said.

"We know the people but don't know what happened.

"We're still waiting to go back in - we don't know when we'll be allowed back, maybe tomorrow. We don't know where we're going to go [tonight], maybe to friends. We just can't get our stuff out."

Another neighbour said: "I just heard some shouting at about midnight."

The three men were taken the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 02920 222111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
