Church service for murder victim Church service for murder victim
(about 14 hours later)
A memorial service for murder victim Moira Jones is due to be held at a Glasgow church. Family and friends of Moira Jones have paid tribute to her at a memorial service in a Glasgow church.
It took place almost two months after the 40-year-old's body was found in Queen's Park, close to where she lived.
More than 100 people, including her parents Bea and Hugh Jones, attended the service led by Strathclyde Police chaplain the Reverend Neil Galbraith.
Mr Galbraith described Moira as a "remarkable lady". Her uncle John said she was a "touch of class".
He told the congregation: "I can only ever remember her with a big smile on her face."
Her uncle Ed said: "Moira was a great lass, loving, caring and thoughtful, even as a wee girl."
"Right from the start she was a happy, smiling wee girl you just had to love and that never changed."
The service at Cathcart Old Parish Church ended with the congregation singing All Things Bright and Beautiful.
