A man has died and his son has been airlifted to hospital after they got into trouble swimming in the sea. A 42-year-old holidaymaker has died after getting into difficulties swimming in the sea in Devon.

Coastguard crews attempted to resuscitate the man after pulling him from the sea, but he died. Attempts were made to resuscitate the man before he was airlifted to Torbay Hospital. His son was treated at the scene.
The survivor, whose condition was not known, was flown by helicopter to Torbay District Hospital. Red flags were out warning bathers not to go into the sea. A police spokesman said the family had returned to Wales.
