I’ve been thinking a lot about how to deal with the overwhelm of the everyday stress of being an American right now – especially an American who cares about politics. I’m tired of the “self-care” memes and advice, because there’s no way taking a breath or getting some extra sleep is going to help what’s going on now. But sometimes you do need to step away: turn off Twitter, stop thinking about Trump and the possible impending death of democracy. Because how else can you go on another day?
