Channel 4's lunchtime news bulletin has been taken off air after a fire alarm went off at ITN's London studios.

Presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy was interviewing housing minister Caroline Flint when the alarm started to sound.

He apologised to viewers for the noise and, after wrapping up the interview, introduced a commercial break.

As the title music played, Guru-Murthy could be seen standing up and taking out his earpiece. The bulletin did not return after the advertisements ended.

London Fire Brigade said they had not been called out to the premises at Gray's Inn Road in London. Staff at ITN have now returned to their desks.
