A former contestant on a reality TV show has been found guilty of attacking a 16-year-old boy with a golf club.

Jack Tweed, 21, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, who was on Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother with ex-girlfriend Jade Goody, was found guilty of assault.

James Mattock, 29, of Ongar, Essex, was also found guilty of assaulting Daniel Steele, now 18, in Ongar, in 2006.

Tweed and Mattock, who denied the charge, are due at Chelmsford Crown Court for sentencing on 1 September.

'Picked out'

Prosecutor Caroline Gardiner told jurors Tweed had "rocketed into a celebrity lifestyle" which may have affected his personality.

"Do you think he may see himself as someone who is perhaps invincible?" she said.

"Two weeks before, Jade Goody had some trouble with youths in the area.

"Some youths probably being noisier than they should have been.

"Maybe they (Tweed and Mattock) decided, it is time to teach these youths a lesson or two."

The court heard how Mr Steele was left with a bleeding nose following the attack.

Jurors heard how Tweed told detectives that at the time of the assault he had been putting up Christmas trees and watching videos before picking up a Chinese take away with Mattock.

"They have picked me out because they know me from magazines and the TV," the court heard he told police.
