Man admits Scots tourist's murder

A man has admitted beating and kicking to death a Scottish holidaymaker in a crowded bar in the Canary Islands.

Hamed Mohamed Hamed, 33, from the Spanish enclave of Melilla, claimed he was drunk and under the influence of drugs when he carried out the attack.

Brian Hobbs, 52, from Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire, died following the assault in the resort of Puerto Caleta, Fuerteventura, in May 2006.

Sentence on Hamed is expected to take place in two weeks time.
