According to biographies posted on gallery websites, he exhibited all over the world, including at the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) museums in San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, and Zurich. His brother said: "Richard was always a very adventurous person, what with climbing and outdoor activities. It stimulated his art work."

After studying at university in Newcastle, he worked in Rome, London, San Francisco and New York before returning to the UK in 1988.
"It's a terrible accident and he was a lovely man. He was very amiable and had a passion for art and the North East. He then moved to Stratford-upon-Avon where he met his wife. The couple had two daughters, Rachel and Daisy, now 17 and 15.
"He travelled across the world but he came back to the North East a few years ago and set up a studio in Corbridge, Northumberland." He leaves another brother, Anthony, 48, who is a doctor.
Mr Kidd was one of The Biscuit Factory's founding artists when it opened about six years ago. Paul Roberts, manager of the Biscuit Factory, an art gallery in Newcastle where Mr Kidd's work is on display in the restaurant, said: "It's a terrible accident and he was a lovely man.
"He was very amiable and had a passion for art and the North East."
