Members of the group Families Acting for Innocent Relatives (FAIR) will be in the US this week to meet with victims of terrorism.

FAIR said it wants to promote victims' solidarity and raise awareness about a legal action it is taking.

A case against Libya is entering the American courts in a few weeks and diplomatic moves to force Libya to settle are already under way.

It relates to terror attacks carried out using weapons supplied by Libya.

William Frazer, director of the County Armagh-based group, said: "A case like this does not simply happen, it is a result of years of work, and is a testimony for the central role FAIR plays in the victims' sector in Northern Ireland.

"The case is the first and probably only of its kind for victims here and will expose the terrorists and those who sponsored them.

"It will give a platform for victims in the United States and ensure justice and compensation for those who suffered," he said.

The delegation will meet a number of congressmen and senators in Washington during their 10-day visit.

Other talks are planned in the United Nations and will culminate with a meeting with State Department and White House staff.
