Version 0 of 1.

A baby boy has died after a television apparently fell on top of him.

The 13-month-old from Swansea was taken to the city's Morriston Hospital on Thursday with injuries but died later that day.

It is thought Ghazi Riyaz Mohammed had opened a drawer on a unit supporting the television which caused the old-style set to topple off onto him.

South Wales Police said they were investigating the circumstances of the death of the child.

Following the incident, the child was rushed to hospital where he underwent brain surgery but died six hours later.

Family friends described Ghazi as a lovely little boy who had just had a first birthday party last month and described his parents as very distressed.

The incident happened at the family's home in the Penlan area of the city

They were originally housed in Reading, Berkshire, where Ghazi was born.

But they were moved to the Penlan area of Swansea, last August.

Ghazi had an older brother and sister who go to the nearby Arfryn Primary School, in Swansea.

Head teacher Clare Gay said: "The children are delightful - they are a really lovely family. Everyone is really upset about what has happened."

South Wales police are investigating the death but said there were no suspicious circumstances.

A spokesman said: "Officers are aware of the tragic incident and at present we are investigating the circumstances around it. The death is not being treated as suspicious."

A post mortem examination is due to be held and an inquest will be opened next week.
