According to research company Ascent-MI, which works with Abta, summer holiday bookings out of the UK were up by 1% at the end of June 2008 compared to the same time a year previously.

However, operators reported that fewer late deals were available due to capacity cuts.
Abta highlighted the strong euro as a reason for growth in destinations just outside the eurozone, while the weak dollar continued to make the US an attractive destination.
