Macron’s Party Cruising to Resounding Win in French Vote | |

PARIS — French voters gave a resounding victory to the still untested party of the newly elected president, Emmanuel Macron, in Sunday’s parliamentary elections, dealing another crushing blow to France’s traditional parties. | |
Based on returns from 86 percent of France’s 577 districts, it appeared likely that candidates for Mr. Macron’s party, La République en Marche, would receive 28 percent of the votes for the National Assembly, the powerful lower house of the French Parliament. | |
If that holds up, it will complete a remarkable 14 months during which Mr. Macron formed his own party, humbled France’s main Socialist and Republican parties and repelled the far-right challenge of Marine Le Pen and the National Front at a time of rising right-wing nationalism and populism. | |
