Army sent to college in Trafford area of Manchester, roads closed – police Army and bomb disposal units responding to incident in Manchester

Manchester police say the army is on its way to a college in Trafford following reports of an incident. People are being advised to avoid the area. Manchester police say an army bomb disposal unit has arrived in Hulme as part of an ongoing police operation. People are being advised to avoid the area.
The police say roads are closed. Bomb disposal units have reportedly arrived at the college. Royal Logistics Corps bomb disposal teams have been sent to Linby Street, and a large cordon has been set up.
“Officers are in attendance and we are currently assessing the situation,” the Greater Manchester Police tweeted. The force said it was too early to say whether the alert is linked to its investigation into the Manchester bomb attack.
Police said several roads were closed and officers were "currently assessing the situation." 
Greater Manchester Police had tweeted that the incident was in Trafford, but later clarified that it was in Hulme.
Armed officers, police dogs and a police helicopter were at the scene.
“Officers are in attendance and we are currently assessing the situation,” the Greater Manchester Police tweeted. 
The incident comes as Prime Minister Theresa May said the terror threat level "will remain at critical and the public should remain vigilant." 
Soldiers have been deployed to guard key areas of London, including Buckingham Palace, Downing Street and Parliament.
It follows the bomb attack at Manchester Arena on Monday where 22 people, including young children, were killed.
