Three people have died and two others have been injured as a result of a head-on crash between a car and a van. A young man and two young women have died and two men have been injured in a head-on crash between a car and a van in Aberdeenshire.
The driver, a man in his early 20s, and two women, thought to be in their late teens, are understood to have been travelling in the car. The driver of the car, a 22-year-old man, and an 18-year-old woman passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the women was airlifted to hospital but died from her injuries. The other two died at the scene. A 20-year-old woman, also a passenger in the car, was airlifted to hospital but died from her injuries.

The road has been closed and diversions set up via the A95 and A98. Insp Ewan Innes, from Grampian Police, said: "Collision investigators carried out a detailed examination of the scene with the road being closed for nine hours.
"Whatever the cause may be, three young persons have died tragically and my thoughts are with their families at this sad time."
Insp Innes appealed for drivers who were in the area around the time of the collision to come forward to Police.
The deaths take the total number of people killed on Grampian's roads to six in the last week.
