A number of arrests have been made after problems at Cardiff City's pre-season game against Merthyr Tydfil.

South Wales Police said there were some "minor disturbances" before, during and after Saturday's match at Merthyr's Penydarren Park.

A spokesman said on Saturday evening: "We've still got a police presence to make sure we don't have any more disturbances.

"A number of the crowd have gone into licensed premises," he added.

On the field, Cardiff beat Merthyr 3-1, with John Brown, Steve Thompson and Sol Taylor scoring for the visitors, and Craig Stiens finding the net for the home team.

Cardiff also fielded a separate team for another away pre-season game against Carmarthen Town, which City won 5-0.
