Man drowns in Strangford Lough

A man has died after being recovered from the water near Gibbs Island in Strangford Lough.

Portaferry Lifeboat was launched and a police helicopter was also sent to the scene of the incident.

The man was recovered by members of the public at Quoile Yacht club who commenced CPR life-saving techniques before lifeboat staff then took over.

The man was then transferred via helicopter to Musgrave Park Hospital, but attempts to revive him failed.
