The man allegedly attacked the officers, forcing them to open fire, German Der Tagesspiegel daily reports. Berlin police later tweeted that the person “threatened” one of the officers “with a weapon” in the hospital parking lot.
“The man did not stop his assault despite repeated demands from police, so one officer shot and injured him in the thigh,” the police statement says.
