Version 0 of 1.

A small bomb has exploded in the boot of the Palestinian attorney-general's car as he set off to work in Ramallah.

Ahmed Meghani was unhurt by what he said was a "weak explosion". The device was placed next to his car's fuel tank.

"I'm not accusing anybody," he said. "All I know is there was an explosive device in my car and it targeted me."

Mr Meghani has been probing suspected corruption in the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank as well as in Hamas which dominates the Gaza Strip.

He was briefly detained by Hamas in Gaza in 2007 when the Islamist movement took control of Gaza after a violent struggle with the Fatah-dominated PA security forces.

No-one has admitted responsibility for the Ramallah blast.

Palestinian Supreme Court chief Issa Abu Sharar condemned the incident, calling it "a serious attack aimed at paralysing the judiciary and the prosecution".
