Version 0 of 1.

On the night of 6 July 1988, 167 people lost their lives on the Piper Alpha oil platform, in what remains the world's worst offshore oil disaster.

To mark the twentieth anniversary, The Archive Hour on Radio 4 remembers that night in the North Sea.

Here, three people featured in the programme - survivor Bob Ballantyne, filmmaker Paul Beriff, and hospital chaplain Alan Swinton - recall what happened to them.

"The Archive Hour: Piper Alpha’s Legacy" will be broadcast on Radio 4 on Saturday 5 July at 2000 BST. It will also be available for a week as a podcast.
