A man wanted by police in connection with two sex attacks in West Yorkshire has been arrested in Cornwall.

David Newton, 53, was held in Hayle on Tuesday afternoon and is being taken back to a police station in Leeds.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police have been helping Yorkshire colleagues search for Mr Newton since the weekend.

He is wanted for questioning about a sex attack on a 52-year-old woman on Ilkley Moor in June and an attack on a 16-year-old girl in 1997 in Halton.

Mr Newton, from Knottingley, was spotted in St Ives on Sunday after an appeal for information on BBC Radio Cornwall.
