Proposals for ship-to-ship oil transfers in the Moray Firth are to be debated in the Scottish Parliament next week.

Port of Cromarty Firth has proposed the transfers of oil at sea. It has said the work could be done safely and without risk to the environment.

However, campaign group Cromarty Rising has gathered more than 100,000 names on a petition opposing the plans.

MSP John Finnie has secured the debate in the parliament next Wednesday.

Mr Finnie spoke in favour of the campaign's petition at a meeting of Holyrood's public petitions committee on Thursday.
