Chicago father shoots and kills twin daughters leaving wife injured so she can ‘live and suffer’
Version 0 of 1. A man who shot and killed his 16-year-old twin daughters left his wife injured so she could “live and suffer like me,” before turning the gun on himself. Randall Coffland 48, killed his daughters in their Chicago home on Friday night before shooting his estranged wife Anjum Coffland, 46, in the legs. Both Coffland and his wife made 911 phone calls from the scene in the St Charles suburb at nearly the same time, according to Fox32. In the calls, released by police on Sunday, Coffland can be heard shouting, apparently to his wife: “I want you to live and suffer like I did.” Coffland admitted to the murders on the 911 call, stating: “I just shot and killed my two kids and I shot my wife, and I’m going to kill myself now”. Mrs Coffland’s separate call heard her shouting to emergency services to come to her home, saying: “Oh my God, my husband shot my kids. “My daughters are dead,” she screamed. Police arriving at the scene found Coffland and his daughters Tiffany and Brittany dead, all killed by single gunshot wounds to the head. Mrs Coffland was taken to Delnor Community Hospital where she was listed in a stable condition, the Chicago Tribune reported. Two weapons were recovered by police in the home and Coffland possessed a firearm owner certification card. St Charles Deputy Police Chief David Kintz told reporters: “[Mrs Coffland] tells the dispatcher that her husband shot her kids. She also says that he shot her in the legs. Another call was made by Randall Coffland. Randall clearly tells the dispatchers that he shot and killed his two kids and he shot his wife. He then said he was going to shoot himself. “This was a tragic and horrific event.” Mrs Coffland is still hospitalised and understood to be working with authorities in their investigation. A motive has not yet been established. Friends, teachers and fellow students held a candlelit vigil for the victims on Saturday night, CBS Chicago reported. |
