A Touch of the Irish
http://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/13/opinion/a-touch-of-the-irish.html Version 0 of 1. To the Editor: Re “Kiss Me, I’m Probably Irish,” by J. Courtney Sullivan (Sunday Review, March 12): Ms. Sullivan need not worry about not being 100 percent Irish. I grew up being told that my father was 100 percent Norwegian and my mother 100 percent Swedish. Recently I began to wonder if that was actually true and took the Ancestry.com DNA test. Lo and behold, it turned out to be false: I am actually only about 99 percent Scandinavian and … about 1 percent Irish! Of course I knew that those Vikings got around quite a bit, but now I am a 1 percenter and can truly enjoy my corned beef and cabbage this Friday. NORMAN VIG, ROSEVILLE, CALIF. |
