Version 0 of 1. Sachin Tendulkar has asked his fans to save water while celebrating Holi. The Indian cricket legend sent the message to his 14.9 million followers on Twitter as India celebrated the “festival of colours”. Holi can often involve large water fights and in recent years there have been concerns of waste. Tendulkar asked his fans to be slightly more vigilant of how much water they used during the celebrations. His former team mate, Virender Sehwag, also took to social media to tweet about the festival. “Playing Holi Jamkar ! May the festival of colours spread joy, peace, happiness, wealth, and celebration in your life. #HappyHoli!,” he said. The current India captain, Virat Kohli, also shared a message to those celebrating and highlighted the importance of looking after stray animals. Holi dates back to the 4th century and celebrates the triumph of good over evil. It celebrates fertility and love and marks the end of winter. It is best known for the sight of carnival revellers gathering to toss coloured powder into the air, completely coating one another. |
