Firefighters pelted with stones
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/7480636.stm Version 0 of 1. Firefighters have criticised "mindless" youths who threw stones at them as they fought a school fire. Crews in Glasgow were attending a blaze at Old Littlehill School in Craighead Road, Blackhill, at about 1845 BST on Sunday when they were attacked. About 20 officers from Springburn, Easterhouse and Parkhead are still at the scene. Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said their efforts were hampered by the pointless abuse. No-one was injured in the blaze. The service said one vehicle had been damaged. Incident commander Garry Milne said: "It's extremely disappointing that firefighters carrying out their duties in such arduous conditions are being subjected to such mindless physical and verbal abuse." The cause of the blaze is not known, and it will be investigated jointly by the fire service and Strathclyde Police. |
