The family of a man missing for almost three months say his body has been found in the River Severn.

Stephen Woolley, a 55-year-old retired bank manager, went missing from his home in Kidderminster on 6 December.

His disappearance prompted a huge search as well as a campaign on social media that saw appeals retweeted by celebrities including Miranda Hart.

A family post on Facebook said "with great sadness" they had to report his body had been recovered.

They said he had been positively identified and a post-mortem examination was expected to take place on Monday.

"It is not the outcome we hoped for, but it does give us closure and the chance to grieve for our loss," the family said.

Mr Woolley's car was found at a beauty spot at Holt Fleet, near to his home, soon after his disappearance.
