A neighbour said the brothers were well-known drinkers often see in pubs in the town.
Peter Boland, a 39-year-old taxi driver said: "They were not in good health and both looked old.
"You would see them going out and one had a walking stick.
"They would often be seen in town centre pubs and they were well-known around here.
"This is not a bad place at all and it is a real shock to everyone."
He said forensic scientists had examined the terraced house before the bodies were removed from the scene.
Another neighbour said the pair associated with other heavy drinkers and their home was known for being scruffy.
He said he thought one of the men had had a serious chest condition.
