Hundreds of motorcyclists have staged a protest against the rising cost of fuel with a mass ride into Edinburgh. About 300 bikers from Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh travelled in convoy from Kinross to the capital. Led by a police escort, they crossed the Forth Road Bridge before congregating in the city centre. The web forum Fife Bikers, which organised the mass ride, described it as a "non-political" protest against rising fuel taxes. The forum has about 1,100 members. 'Fed up' Spokesman Stephen Forsyth said: "We are just ordinary people who are fed up with the increasing price of fuel. "We have had a lot of support today and have hopefully got our message across." The procession left from Kinross Services on the M90 at midday. A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said the event had passed without incident. |
